GERMAN DUMPLINGS 
4-5 slices bread, broken into small pieces
Broth - 1 c. or enough to moisten bread
1 egg
1 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. nutmeg
Flour

Mix all together, except flour. Add enough flour to hold dumplings together and drop by spoonful into hot soup. Simmer 10 to 15 minutes or until dumplings are firm. (More broth may be needed.) Homemade bread is best for this recipe.
