3 c. sugar
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 stick butter
1 tsp. vanilla
3 c. pecans

Put all ingredients in a big boiler and boil until mixture turns brown and forms a soft ball in cold water. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla and beat a little. Stir in pecans and drop on waxed paper.
