IRISH APPLE BREAD 
1 c. ground apples
1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 c. nuts
1 1/2 tbsp. sour milk

Cream sugar and shortening. Add vanilla, eggs, apples, and sour milk. Add all the dry ingredients and mix. Bake in a 8 x 4 inch greased loaf pan for 40 minutes at 350 degrees.

For added sweetness add 3 tablespoons sugar and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon over the loaf before baking.
