POPCORN BALLS 
1 c. sugar
1/3 c. water
1/3 c. white Karo
1/4 c. butter
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla
3 qts. popped corn
2 or 3 drops food coloring, if desired

Combine sugar, water, syrup, butter and salt in saucepan. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Boil until syrup-ball dropped in cold water becomes very brittle (280 to 285 degrees on candy thermometer). Add vanilla. Pour over popcorn mixing thoroughly. Grease hands with butter and shape into balls. (If food coloring is used, add with vanilla.)
