SWEET SOUR BROCCOLI &
CAULIFLOWER
 
3/4 lb. fresh broccoli or 1 pkg. (10 oz.) frozen broccoli spears
3/4 lb. fresh cauliflower (1 sm. head) or 1 pkg. (10 oz.) frozen cauliflower
4 slices bacon, diced
2 green onions, minced
2 tbsp. brown sugar
2 tbsp. vinegar
3/4 tsp. salt
Dash pepper

Tips: To prepare ahead, arrange vegetables in serving dish that can go into microwave oven. Top with bacon, wrap with plastic film. Keep dressing separate. Reheat in microwave just before serving. Reheat dressing and pour on.

1. Cook broccoli and cauliflower separately until tender-crisp; drain. Turn into warm serving dish.

2. While vegetables cook, put bacon into frying pan and cook until crisp. Remove bacon and reserve.

3. Pour out all but 3 tablespoons of the bacon drippings. Add onions, saute for 2 minutes. Then stir in brown sugar, vinegar, salt and pepper. Heat.

4. Pour sauce over cauliflower and broccoli in serving dish. Top with crisp bacon. Serve immediately.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
