WALDORF ASTORIA RED VELVET CAKE 
Use 9 x 13 x 2 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

Cream:

1/2 c. Crisco
1 1/2 c. granulated sugar

Add:

2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 oz. red food coloring (every drop)

Sift:

2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. cocoa

Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with 1 cup buttermilk.

Last: Dissolve 1 teaspoon baking soda in 1 teaspoon vinegar. Fold carefully and thoroughly into batter.
