CHICKEN PAPRIKAS 
1/2 c. chopped onions
1 tbsp. paprika
3-4 lb. chicken, cut up
1 c. sour cream
1/4 c. shortening
1/2 tsp. black pepper
1 1/2 c. water
Salt to taste

Saute onions in hot shortening until tender, not brown. Add salt, paprika, black pepper and stir. Add chicken and fry until all parts are coated with the paprika mixture. Add water and cover, cooking slowly until tender.

Remove the chicken and blend sour cream into the liquid. Do not heat to boiling or curdling will result. Add the chicken and serve hot over cooked noodles or dumplings. Serves 4-6.
