APPLE RINGS 
SYRUP:

1 c. white sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 stick butter
2 c. water

Put in saucepan, heat until bubbly.

PASTRY:

1 1/2 c. plain flour
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
4-5 tbsp. water

Prepare pastry by cutting flour and salt into shortening. Blend in water, roll out on floured board. Grate 3 to 4 cups apples, peeled. Place grated apples on pastry. Roll as you would jelly roll. Cut in 1 to 1 1/2 inch slices and drop in hot syrup in baking dish. Sprinkle with cinnamon and bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Can be doubled easily.
