FILLING FOR CHERRY SPICE CAKE 
3 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. milk
Butter (size of an egg)
1/4 tsp. baking soda
Cherry juice from bottle of cherries in cake

Combine sugar, milk, and butter. Bring to boil. Add cherry juice and soda when ready to start putting on cake. Put filling on first layer when it has been boiling just a few minutes. Let it seep down into cake. Repeat for each layer. By the time cake is stacked, the last of filling should be beginning to thicken. Pour on top of cake.
