APPLE CRUMB PIE 
Plain pastry for a 1-crust pie
4 lg. tart apples
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 c. flour
1/3 c. butter

Peel and cut apples into eighths. Place in pie shell. Sprinkle with 1/2 cup sugar that has been mixed with cinnamon. Sift remaining 1/2 cup sugar with flour. Chop butter into flour and sugar mixture until crumbly. Sprinkle this over the sugared apples. Bake in hot oven at 450 degrees for 15 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake for 30 minutes more or until apples are tender.
