APPLE PIE CRUMB TOP 
Apples, fresh, peeled or canned (water drained off)
3 tbsp. water
1/2 c. sugar

Place apples in deep dish. Add water and sugar. Dot with butter and sprinkle with cinnamon.

CRUST:

1 c. sifted flour, self rising
Pinch of salt
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening, butter

Work together until mixture is of consistency of coarse corn meal. Sprinkle over top of apples. Bake for 45 minutes at 350 degrees or until top so golden brown.
