BASIC BREAD PUDDING 
3 1/2 c. dry bread crumbs, use more if bread is fresh
3 c. warm milk
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1/2 c. sugar
1/3 c. raisins, plump up a few minutes in hot water
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
Butter and nutmeg as desired

Soak crumbs in warm milk 10-15 minutes. With a fork blend in remaining ingredients. Turn into a buttered dish. Bake uncovered about one hour. For a more custard type consistency. Place dish in a pan of hot water while baking.
