CHOCOLATE OATMEAL CAKE 
2 c. rolled oats, uncooked
1 c. shortening
4 eggs
1 c. cocoa
1 tsp. salt
3 c. boiling water
3 c. sugar
2 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. vanilla

Mix rolled oats and boiling water together. Let stand to cool. Cream shortening with sugar and eggs. Add oatmeal mixture along with flour, cocoa, baking soda, salt and vanilla. Beat until smooth. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes.
