CHOW MEIN PORK | |
2 c. onions, sliced lengthwise 3 c. celery, sliced lengthwise 1 lb. pork, strips or small pieces 1 can bamboo shoots, drained 3/4 c. mushrooms In 1 tablespoon of oil, fry meat until done. Remove meat. In another pan, slightly saute onions in 1 tablespoon oil then add to meat. Saute bamboo shoots and 3/4 cup mushrooms (canned or fresh may be used) in 1 tablespoon oil and add to meat. Finally, add 1 can bean sprouts (drained) sauteed in 1 tablespoon oil, 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, chopped and a mixture of 1 teaspoon sugar, 3 tablespoons cornstarch, 5 tablespoons soy sauce and 3/4 c. soup stock. Heat thoroughly and serve on boiled noodles, fried noodles or rice. Note: Ginger may be omitted; vegetables should be crunchy. You may prefer to heat sauce separately then add to pork mixture. Bouillon cubes may be used for soup stock. |
