PORK CHOW MEIN - CHINA | |
1/4 c. butter 1 med. onion, chopped 2 c. diced celery 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. monosodium glutamate Dash of pepper 1 1/2 c. hot water 1 (1 lb.) can bean sprouts, drained or Chinese vegetables, drained 2 c. cooked pork, beef, veal or chicken, chunked 2 tbsp. cold water 2 tbsp. cornstarch 1 tbsp. soy sauce 1 tsp. sugar or 1 tbsp. brown gravy sauce Melt butter in skillet; add onion and cook for 3 minutes. Add celery, salt, MSG, pepper, and hot water. Cover and cook for 5 minutes. Add bean sprouts and meat. Cook 5 minutes. Combine remaining ingredients; add to mixture and cook for 1 minute. Yields 4-6 servings. |
