CHEROKEE CASSEROLE 
1 lb. ground beef
3/4 c. chopped onion
1 1/2 tsp. salt
Dash of pepper
1/8 tsp. garlic powder
1/8 tsp. ground thyme
2 c. tomatoes (1 lb. can)
1 can mushroom soup
1 sm. can mushrooms
1 c. minute rice
6 ripe olives
2 or 3 slices cheese, cut in 1/2 inch strips

Brown meat; add onions. Cover. Cook over medium heat until onion is tender. Stir in seasonings, tomatoes, soup, and rice. Add half of the olive slices. Simmer 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Spoon into baking dish. Top with cheese strips. Broil until cheese is melted. Decorate with remaining olive slices. Serves 4 to 6 people.
