SMALL FAMILY DINNER ROLLS 
2 tbsp. shortening
1 egg
1 tsp. salt
2 1/2 c. flour
1 pkg. dry yeast
1 c. warm water
2 tbsp. sugar

Dissolve yeast in water. Stir in sugar, salt and half of the flour. Beat until smooth. Add egg and shortening. Then add rest of flour. Knead with extra flour until smooth (and not sticky).

Let rise (about 1 hour), punch down and shape into rolls. Let rise again (about 45 minutes). Bake at 400 degrees for about 15-20 minutes. Makes 1 dozen.
