SUGAR COOKIES (FOR DECORATING) 
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 well-beaten eggs
2 tbsp. cream
1 tbsp. vanilla or almond
3 1/2 c. cake flour
2 tsp. baking powder

Cream together and beat until light and fluffy the shortening and sugar. Add eggs, cream and vanilla or almond; beat well. Sift together cake flour and baking powder. Add sifted dry ingredients to creamed mixture. Shape into mound, wrap in waxed paper and chill thoroughly. Roll on board, lightly floured with confectioners' sugar, until dough is about 1/4 inch thick.

Dip cutter in confectioners' sugar each time before cutting cookie, then place cookie on lightly greased baking sheet. Bake in moderate 375 degree oven for about 8 minutes, or until delicately browned.
