RAISIN SCONES 
3 1/4 c. flour
5 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. raisins
5 tbsp. sugar
5 tbsp. butter
1 egg
1 c. milk

Sift flour, baking powder, salt and sugar together. Cut in butter until mixture looks like coarse meal.

Beat egg and milk and stir into dry ingredients. Add raisins.

Pat dough into 9 inch round 3/4 inch thick. Place on greased baking sheet and cut into eight or twelve wedges as you would a pie, but do not separate the pieces. Brush top with beaten egg. If desired, sprinkle tops with a little cinnamon sugar.

Bake in preheated 450 degree oven for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 375 degrees and bake 15-20 minutes longer until top is golden brown.
