RAISIN SCONES 
2 c. flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
3 tbsp. sugar
6 tbsp. butter
1 egg and milk to make 3/4 c. combined
3/4 c. raisins

IN a mixing bowl, measure flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Stir thoroughly. Cut in the butter until the mixture is crumbly. Add raisins, stirring until they are coated. Beat egg and milk combination and add all at once. Stir it into the flour mixture until a dough is formed. Knead as little as possible.

Turn the dough onto a large floured dinner plate. Pat with hands until dough covers entire plate. Cut into 8 wedges. Lift each piece onto a large greased baking sheet. Brush with egg and sprinkle with sugar. Bake at 425 degrees about 20 minutes until golden.
