CHICKEN OR TURKEY A LA KING | |
4 oz. can of mushrooms 1 can peas or 1 1/2 c. frozen peas 1/2 c. butter 1/2 c. flour 2 c. chicken broth 2 c. milk 1 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. pepper 2 to 3 c. cooked chicken or turkey 1/4 c. chopped green onion (optional) Saute mushrooms and onion in butter. Blend in flour and seasonings. Cook over low heat, stirring until mixture is smooth and bubbly. Remove from heat and slowly stir in broth and milk. Bring to boil over low heat, stirring constantly. Boil 1 minute; add chicken or turkey and peas. Continue cooking until meat is heated through. Serve hot over biscuits, rice, noodles or toast points. Serves 6 to 8. This is our traditional New Year's Day Brunch Meal. My kids love it! |
