MISS JO'S ZIP QUICK BUTTERMILK
BISCUITS
 
2 c. unsifted all-purpose flour
1/2 c. vegetable shortening
2 tbsp. butter
1 tbsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
3/4 c. buttermilk

Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Combine dry ingredients in food processor; process until mixed. Drop in pieces of shortening and butter. Process 15 seconds or until very crumbly. Pour in buttermilk; process 5 seconds, or until dough forms a ball. Turn dough out onto lightly floured surface. Knead 5 times, roll or pat out to 3/4 inch thickness. Cut into 2 1/2 inch rounds with floured cutter. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 15-18 minutes at 425 degrees.
