LINEMAN'S SUPPER | |
We eat beef jerky and we chew dry and tough. But linemen usually rode alone, checking a fence line, sometimes for weeks. In their saddlebags would be beef jerky and hardtack. Put the jerky in a pot of water. Start it to boil. Place a wire basket over the water and put the hardtack in it. The jerky becomes softer and less salty, almost like roast beef. The hardtack becomes a biscuit once again. Submitted by: Sam Campbell |
