BUTTERMILK BISCUITS | |
2 c. flour, sifted 2 tsp. baking powder 5 tbsp. shortening Buttermilk to make soft dough 3/4 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. baking soda Sift flour, salt, soda, baking powder together; cut in shortening until mixture looks like cornmeal. Mix in buttermilk. Turn out on lightly floured board, flour hand and knead dough easy like 10 to 15 times. Roll out or pat out until about 3/8 inches thick. Cut round with an old baking powder can. Put in ungreased pan and bake in a hot oven (450 degrees) 12 to 15 minutes or until tops are golden brown. Serve hot with lots of butter, molasses, or honey. |
