HUNGARIAN GOULASH 
3 tbsp. shortening
1/2 c. onions, cooked down
3 lbs. beef shoulder, cut into 1 1/2 inch cubes
1 tbsp. paprika
1/2 tsp. ground pepper, coarsely ground
2 tsp. seasoned salt
Noodles
Dash of cayenne pepper
2 med. tomatoes, peeled and cut into wedges
1/4 c. tomato puree
1 c. water
3 slices bacon

Melt shortening in heavy kettle or Dutch oven; brown onions. Remove onions; set aside. Add meat to shortening remaining in pan; brown well on all sides. Sprinkle with paprika, pepper, seasoned salt and cayenne pepper. Return onions to pan; add tomatoes, tomato puree and water. Place bacon on top. Cover, simmer for 2 hours or until tender. Add water during cooking, if necessary. Serve on noodles. Yields: 6-8 servings.
