HUNGARIAN GOULASH | |
2 lb. stew meat, cut into 1" cubes 1 med. onion, chopped 1 clove garlic, minced 1/4 c. shortening 1 1/2 c. water 3/4 c. ketchup 2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce 1 tbsp. packed brown sugar 2 tsp. salt 2 tsp. paprika 1/2 tsp. dry mustard Dash cayenne red pepper 1/4 c. cold water 2 c. flour 8 oz. noodles, cooked Brown beef with onion and garlic in shortening; drain off grease. Stir in 1 1/2 cups water, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, salt, paprika, dry mustard and cayenne pepper. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat and simmer covered for about 2 hours or until beef is tender. Shake 1/4 cup water and flour together. Gradually stir into beef mixture. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Boil for 1 minute. Serve over hot noodles. |
