CHOCOLATE CHIP OATMEAL CAKE 
1 3/4 c. boiling water
1 c. oatmeal
1/2 c. butter
1 c. white sugar
1 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
1 3/4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. cocoa
1 (12 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
3/4 c. chopped nuts

Pour boiling water over oatmeal and butter. Let stand for 10 minutes. Add brown and white sugar and blend well. Add eggs and mix well. Stir in dry ingredients and mix. Add chocolate chips and nuts. Baked at 9 x 13 greased and floured pan for 45-50 minutes at 350 degrees. You can save back 1/2 the chocolate chips and sprinkle on top before baking and then no icing is needed.
