GERMAN BAVARIAN CASSEROLE 
1 (14 oz.) can sauerkraut
1 1/2 c. water
3/4 c. uncooked brown rice
1 med. onion, chopped
1 lb. lean ground beef, cooked
1 tbsp. honey
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 (8 oz.) can stewed tomatoes

Rinse and drain sauerkraut, pour into a 1-quart casserole, and add water. Sprinkle with rice, then onion, beef, honey, and pepper. Pour tomatoes over top of mixture. Bake, uncovered at 350 degrees for 1 1/2 hours.

Serve this dish with freshly baked dark rye bread or rolls. Makes 6 portions.
