LUCIOUS APPLE COBBLER 
1 c. sugar
2 tsp. lemon juice
1/4 c. water
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
6 tart apples, peeled and sliced
3/4 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
6 tbsp. butter

Combine 1/2 cup sugar, lemon juice, water and cinnamon in an 8 x 8 x 2 inch baking pan, preferably a Pyrex dish. Slice apples into pan and mix. Blend remaining 1/2 cup sugar, flour, salt and butter and work with a fork until crumbly. Spread over apples and pat smooth. Bake at 375 degrees moderate oven about 40 minutes or 45 minutes until the apples are tender and crust nicely brown. Serve plain or with cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
