NEW ENGLAND APPLE COBBLER 
4 c. thinly sliced apples
3/4 c. walnuts
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 egg
1/2 c. cream or milk
1 c. sifted flour
1 c. melted butter
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
Whipped cream or ice cream

Place apples in 2 quart buttered casserole. Combine 1/2 cup walnuts, 1/2 cup sugar, and cinnamon; sprinkle over apples. Beat egg. Add cream and butter. Add remaining dry ingredients and 1 cup sugar, all at once, to egg mixture; stir until smooth. Pour over apples; sprinkle with 1/4 cup walnuts. Bake at 325 degrees for 50 to 55 minutes. Serve with whipped cream flavored with cinnamon or vanilla ice cream.
