1 1/4 c. crushed vanilla wafers
1/2 c. butter
1 1/2 c. confectioners' sugar
2 eggs
4 c. freshly sliced strawberries or peaches
1 c. whipping cream, whipped

Crush vanilla wafers and press in 8 x 12 inch pan. (If desired save some for garnish on top.) Cream butter and sugar well. Add eggs, one at a time. Mix thoroughly. Pour over crushed wafers. Arrange strawberries (peaches) over top of mixture. Spread whipped cream over top, spreading to seal edges. Sprinkle with reserved crumbs. Chill.
