BRAN MUFFINS 
1/3 c. Crisco
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 egg
3 c. whole bran cereal
1 c. sifted all purpose flour
1 tsp. double acting baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. buttermilk

In a bowl blend Crisco, brown sugar, and egg. Combine dry ingredients and add alternately with the buttermilk. Fill greased muffin cups 2/3 full of batter. Bake at 400 degrees for 18-20 minutes.
