1 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
3 eggs
3 c. unsifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 (9 oz.) pkg. Nonesuch condensed mincemeat

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

In large mixer bowl, beat shortening and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs, beat well. Stir together dry ingredients. Gradually add to shortening mixture. Crumble mincemeat and add. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls, 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Garnish as desired.

For a more cakelike cookie use 1 1/3 cups ready to use Nonesuch mincemeat from jar.

Makes 6 1/2 dozen.
