RAISIN CASSEROLE BREAD | |
2/3 c. hot water 1/2 tsp. salt 2 pkgs. dry yeast 1 egg, well beaten 1 c. seedless raisins 1/2 c. sugar 1/4 c. shortening 1/2 c. lukewarm water 3 1/4 c. flour (white) Combine hot water, salt, sugar and shortening in bowl. Cool to lukewarm. Sprinkle yeast over 1/2 cup warm water, stir to dissolve. Add to first mixture with remaining ingredients. Beat about 2 minutes. Cover and let rise in warm place until about double, about 1 hour. Heat oven to about 400 degrees. Pour into greased 1 1/2 quart casserole dish. Bake 45 minutes. Remove from dish. B utter top of bread so crust doesn't get hard. |
