OATMEAL RAISIN COOKIES 
1 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
2 eggs, unbeaten
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. allspice
1 1/2 c. flour
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1 1/4 c. buttermilk
1 1/2 c. oatmeal, regular
1 c. chopped pecans
1 1/2 c. white raisins

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease cookie sheets. Cream shortening and sugar; add egg and mix. Add spices, flour and soda; mix. Add buttermilk. Add oatmeal; mix. Then add pecans and raisins. Drop by teaspoon onto cookie sheets. Bake 10 to 12 minutes until lightly browned. Do not over cook. Cool slightly before removing to cookie rack. Freezes well. Store in tight container. Makes 5 dozen.
