ORANGE SLICE CAKE 
1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
4 c. plain flour
Pinch of salt
4 eggs
1 1/3 c. buttermilk
1 lb. orange candy
1 lb. dates
2 c. nuts, chopped

Melt or soften butter. Cream with sugar, add eggs one at a time beating after each one. Add 1 cup of buttermilk. Add 1 teaspoon baking soda to remaining 1/3 cup buttermilk. Mix flour and salt with chopped nuts, dates, and candy. Add to creamed mixture. Bake in large tube pan as for other cakes. Bake at 275 degrees for 2 1/2 hours. Top with icing.

ICING FOR ORANGE SLICE CAKE
1 c. frozen orange juice
2 c. brown sugar

Do not cook this. Mix frozen orange juice with brown sugar. Pour over cake while it is hot.
