CRANBERRY DESSERT CAKE 
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. butter
2 c. flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. whole cranberries, uncooked

SAUCE:

1 c. butter/oleo
2 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. light cream or half and half

Cream sugar and butter until light. Add baking powder, salt and flour alternately with milk. Stir in vanilla and cranberries. Spread in well greased 9 inch square pan. Bake at 400 degrees for 35-40 minutes.

For the sauce, melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Brown slightly. Add sugar and cream, mix well. Cook 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally. Pour hot butter sauce over individual pieces of cake.
