OATMEAL SHEET CAKE 
1 1/4 c. boiling water
1 c. quick oats
1 stick butter
1 c. white sugar
1 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. plain flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt

Stir oats into boiling water with salt and butter. Remove from heat and let stand while mixing other ingredients. Combine sugar and eggs and other dry ingredients. Then add oatmeal. Stir well and bake in sheet pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes.

SAUCE FOR TOPPING:

1/2 c. buttermilk
1 c. sugar
1 stick butter
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. baking soda

Boil rapidly in 2 quart saucepan for 2 minutes. Pour over hot cake while in pan and let cool.
