DAD'S CORNBREAD 
1 1/2 c. coarsely ground cornmeal
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
2 c. buttermilk
1 egg
Bacon & drippings

Mix cornmeal, salt, soda, buttermilk and beaten egg. Heat bacon in iron skillet in oven. Pour off 4 tablespoons of bacon drippings and add to batter. Remove bacon from skillet and pour batter into very hot skillet. Should sizzle! Bake at 450 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes.
