2 c. flour 1 tsp. cream of tartar 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1 c. confectioners' sugar 1 c. shortening (Crisco) 1 egg 1 tsp. vanilla 1 c. chopped walnuts Mix and sift together flour, cream of tartar and baking soda. Measure into a bowl and blend confectioners' sugar and shortening. Add egg and mix well. Add vanilla, walnuts, and flour; mix until smooth. Roll dough into balls about the size of hazel nuts and place on baking sheet. Flatten by pressing fork down on top crosswise. Bake in oven at 375 degrees for 5 to 7 minutes. About 4 dozen cookies. |
