CLASSIC SUGAR COOKIES 
1 c. butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
3 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt (opt.)

Cream together butter and sugar until light. Add eggs, one at a time. Sift together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt and add to butter mixture.

Chill thoroughly. Use a small amount of dough at a time, roll out very thin and cut with cookie cutters.

Bake at 375 degrees for 6 to 8 minutes, lightly browned. Makes about 7 dozen cookies. Great to decorate for Christmas or other holidays.
