HERMAN COFFEE CAKE 
On the first day you get Herman you must feed him 1 cup of flour, 1 cup of milk and 1/2 cup of sugar.

Feed him again on the 5th day, bake him on the 10th day.

Keep Herman in the refrigerator in a large covered glass bowl. Stir him once each day with a wooden spoon.

On baking day measure out 1 cup of starter for yourself and 1 cup for a friend. This becomes the first day again.

Use the remaining 2 cups or so of the starter and add: 2 eggs 1 c. sugar 1/2 c. oil 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1 c. nuts and/or raisins and coconut

Pour into greased and floured 9x13 pan and add:

TOPPING:

Heat until melted: 1/2 c. brown sugar 1 tbsp. cinnamon 1 tbsp. flour

Pour topping over dough and swirl into dough with fork. Bake 30-40 minutes at 350 degrees. Glaze after baking.

GLAZE:

1/4 c. butter
1/4 c. sugar
1/8 c. milk

Boil 3-4 minutes. Spoon over Herman and enjoy!
