TEA BREAD 
2 c. flour
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ginger
1 egg
2/3 c. sour milk

Sift flour, sugar and salt. Cut in shortening to form coarse crumbs. Reserve 1 cup crumbs.

Add baking soda and spices. Mix well. Combine egg and sour milk. Add to dry ingredients. Stir only until blended. Sprinkle half the crumbs in bottom of a shallow greased pan. Add the batter and then remaining crumbs. Bake at 375 degrees for 20-25 minutes.
