HUNGARIAN GOULASH | |
3 lg. onions, thinly sliced 1/2 tsp. caraway seeds 1/4 tsp. marjoram 2 lbs. beef, cut in 1 inch cubes 1 to 2 tsp. paprika 1 tsp. vinegar 2 tbsp. oil 1 c. dry red wine (dry) Saute onions in oil until tender. Add caraway seeds, marjoram, salt, and paprika moistened with vinegar; mix well. Push to 1 side. Add meat and brown well on all sides. Mix with onions. Pour in wine. Cover tightly and simmer for 2 to 2 1/2 hours or until meat is tender. If necessary, add water sparingly during cooking. Serve with noodles. Makes 6 servings. |
