BUTTERSCOTCH BROWNIES 
1/4 c. shortening or butter
1 c. packed brown sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
3/4 c. flour
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt

Turn oven on to 350 degrees. Grease and flour square (8x8x2) pan.

Heat shortening (butter) over low heat until melted. Remove from heat. Add brown sugar and mix well. Cool.

Stir in egg. Add flour mixture, vanilla and walnuts. Spread in greased pan. Bake for 25 minutes. Cut into squares while warm.
