BREAD PUDDING 
2 c. dry bread crumbs
4 c. milk, scalded
3/4 c. sugar
1 tbsp. butter
1/4 tsp. salt
4 slightly beaten eggs
1 tsp. vanilla

LEMON SAUCE:

1/2 c. sugar
1 tbsp. cornstarch
Dash of salt
Dash of nutmeg
1 c. boiling water
2 tbsp. butter
1 1/2 tbsp. lemon juice

Soak bread in milk for 5 minutes. Add sugar, butter and salt. Pour slowly over eggs; add vanilla and mix well. Pour into greased 1 1/2 quart baking dish. Bake at 350 degrees until firm, about 1 hour. Serve warm with lemon sauce. Add 1/2 cup raisins if desired. Serves 8.
