HOWARD'S HOLIDAY BRISKET | |
This dish is better when prepared the day before serving. 1 (6 lb.) lean prime brisket 2 medium or 1 large sized onion, thinly sliced salt, pepper and garlic powder (to taste) HOWARD'S SPECIAL SAUCE: 1 (12 oz.) bottle chili sauce (Heinz) 1 (12 oz.) bottle or can beer (your choice) 1 pkg. dry onion soup mix (Lipton) Preheat oven to 350°F. Season brisket with salt, pepper and garlic powder. Surround brisket in roasting pan with thinly sliced onions and brown in a 350°F oven for 20 minutes on each side. Mix chili sauce, beer, and soup mix in a bowl. Pour sauce over brisket and cover with foil. Bake at 350°F for 2 hours turning meat over at least twice during baking. To serve, thin slice the brisket against the grain. Serves 8 to 10. Submitted by: Howard Packer |
