APPLE DUMPLINGS 
2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 c. shortening
1/2 c. milk
4 to 5 apples, chopped
Sprinkle with 1 tbsp. cinnamon & 2 tbsp. sugar

TOPPING SYRUP:

2 c. boiling water
1 c. sugar
1 stick butter
Cinnamon

Combine first 5 ingredients and roll into a roll as for ice box cookies. Cut into 10 pieces. Roll each into a circle and put chopped apples in center of each and seal shut. Place in a baking dish. Pour syrup over. Bake at 375 degrees until done (about 1 hour). You may freeze the dumplings and make the syrup just before you bake. Topped with a little ice cream, they are delicious.
