BUTTERMILK COOKIES 
1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. buttermilk
2 tsp. vanilla
3 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 c. cocoa
1 c. nuts

Cream shortening, sugar and eggs; combine flour, soda, salt, cocoa, nuts and vanilla. Add flour mix and buttermilk alternately to creamed shortening. Refrigerate 2 hours. Then bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. Frost when cool if desired.
