EASY SAUSAGE GRAVY FOR FIVE | |
Sugar is added to take out the sharp taste of sausage in the sausage gravy mix. 1 lb. sausage 1/2 cup all-purpose flour 1 1/2 cups cool water 4 tbsp. (1/2 stick) butter 2 quarts milk 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. pepper 1 tbsp. sugar Cook sausage in a 4-quart pan on stovetop. While sausage cooks on medium heat, mix flour and water in bowl until a smooth texture is obtained. When sausage is cooked and broken up in small 1/2-inch pieces, add flour mixture and butter and stir until mixture is mixed with sausage and water is dried up like gravy. Now add milk, salt, pepper and sugar. Stir mixture every five minutes for about a half hour or until gravy is thickened. Do not cook gravy on too high a heat. When gravy starts bubbling hard turn down until bubbling is not a boil, but a simmering liquid. Serves 5. Submitted by: Jeff Alexander |
